FT: Brentford 0-2 Chelsea (Carabao Cup) 2021-22 | HIGHLIGHTS

Chelsea made it through into the semifinals of the EFL Carabao Cup after beating Brentford 0-2 with Jorginho on target, MySportPlug reporting.

The opening goal was one scored by the Bees who turned in Reece James cross inside his net as the Blues see of their fellow London side to book a spot in the Carabao Cup next round.

It was a game that saw many players from the youth team infused into the starting lineup as most of the senior team regulars were ruled out due to injury and coronavirus which is fast spreading.


It was a good start from both ends on the pitch which gave the first half of the encounter some few talking points in the early stages that had opportunities coming through.

Brentford were the ones making attempts on goal against their opponent who were able to keep things in control defending while they tried to organize and push forward in the game.

Chelsea dominated position but was lacking so much in attacking as they couldn’t get any shot on target despite them being the better between both teams on the pitch as the game carried on.

The opportunities kept coming but still, no goal was recorded as the Blues gained control of things which saw them doing all the pressing and almost going close on scoring on many occasions.

Nothing came through as Brentford Vs Chelsea headed for the first half break with a 0-0 goalless scoreline which wasn’t that bad due to the kind of players on the pitch from both ends.

A good start in the second half saw both London clubs picking up from where they stopped in the first 45 minutes of the encounter which was filled with goal-bound opportunities.

Chelsea continue to maintain the stability they had during the first half which saw them controlling things to make sure it didn’t get out of their control as they know their team isn’t that good enough to hold pressure.

It was looking good for Brentford who had solution to every problem they faced at the defense against their opponent who continue to knock on their defenders looking for a breakthrough that didn’t happen.

Pontus Jansson finally gifted the Blues the lead in the 80th minute which saw him turning Reece James cross into his net to make the scoreline 0-1 as it progressed further into the last few minutes.

Jorginho doubled the lead for his side in the 85th minute of the encounter after a penalty was awarded which the Italian stepped up and made it count with ease which saw the game going 0-2 in their favor.

That goal saw the encounter coming to an end with Chelsea taking a 0-2 win against Brentford which put them into the semifinals of the EFL Carabao Cup with an amazing victory away from home.
